Zooey Deschanel in ‘Spider Man 3′?

LONDON - American actress Zooey Deschanel has reportedly been approached to star in third instalment of “Spider Man” franchise.

According to the sources, director Marc Webber, who has previously worked with Deschanel in “Days of Summer”, has offered her the role of playing Betty Brant, the sexy PA of Daily Bugle boss J Jonah Jameson. Daily Bugle is a fictional New York City newspaper in Spider Man films and comics.

“Betty was a minor character in the previous Spidey movies but Marc has big plans for her. He wants a strong performer to carry the role and Zooey fits the bill perfectly. The role is hers if she wants it,” showbizspy.co.uk quoted a movie insider as saying.

“Spider Man 3″, featuring Andrew Garfield in the title role, is due to begin shooting next month.
