Mick Jagger ‘believed he was bigger than Stones’

LONDON - In his new memoir ‘Life’, Keith Richards reveals about his and Sir Mick Jagger’s stormy relationship and how fame caused the frontman to believe ‘he was bigger than the Stones’.
Richards told a British television channel on Sunday that during the 1980s, Jagger took control of the band and would not relinquish it.
“In that period I had nothing to do with the running of the Stones. He assumed control, he assumed that he was the leader …When I said ‘give me some of the load, I’ll carry my load now’. It surprised me that instead of a sigh of relief, he didn’t want to relinquish one of the strings. It was the assumption that he was bigger than the Stones,” the Scotsman quoted him as saying to the BBC.
The 66-year-old guitarist also reveals how heroin and other drugs helped him cope with fame.
“Fame is probably a bigger killer than drugs in my game. So many people, very nice cats, have a dose of fame and go into this other world,” he said. (ANI)
