WASHINGTON - ‘Desperate Housewives’ star Eva Longoria’s twitter message received the highest donations - a whopping 32,240 dollars on Twitter’s first ever celebrity charity auction ‘Twitchange’.

‘Twitchange’, which was a 10-day auction where anyone could bid on more than 100 famous actors, musicians and sports stars volunteering their tweets.

In total, the auction raised more than 540,000 dollars from more than 13,000 bids. The proceeds will help nonprofit aHomeInHaiti.org build an orphanage in Haiti.

‘Twitchange’ Founded by Atlanta-based pastor Shaun King had Longoria helping King in contacting him herself and showed genuine interest in helping the relief efforts by making personal donations.

King then pitched the idea of a Twitter celebrity auction to Longoria, which she loved.

“Having her on board has made all the difference, she hijacked her own Twitter account for ‘Twitchange’. We’ve found that philanthropy is really her first love.” ABC News quoted King as saying.

Longoria and King spent a week using their Twitter accounts to encourage other celebrities to join the auction.

Twitchange.com attracted more than 30 million views in a couple of weeks. (ANI)
