“Desperate Housewives” Cast Vanessa Williams

LOS ANGELES, (GaeaTimes.com)- Vanessa Williams made a come back after “Ugly Betty”, in the eight season of “Desperate Housewives”, which was premiered on US TV on Sep 26. Bagged with the role of Renee Perry, latest resident and neighbor of Wisteria Lane, she will play a cocky housewife in the show. It has been reported that Vanessa Williams was initially not very keen on doing this role, as she has stopped watching the show since its second season, after she got busy shooting “Ugly Betty”. However, Marc Cherry, the creator of “Desperate housewives”, was always interested to cast Vanessa Williams for this role, as according to him, no one else could have done better justice to the character of Renee Perry.

Marc Cherry had approached Vanessa Williams to cast her in “Desperate Housewives” before also, but she could not make it in the previous seasons. This time however, the actress complied to the creator’s wish, after “Ugly Betty” was taken off air. With some initial hesitation, she signed “Desperate Housewives” even without any formal discussions, reading the script or listening to the character sketch. Vanessa Williams, who was very comfortable and playful during the shooting of the show, said that the entire cast and crew made her feel very comfortable, with a warm welcome and a pleasant approach. Most of the other star cast of “Desperate Housewives”, belong to the same age group as Vanessa Williams which made her work even easier all through out the shoot.

One of the most popular shows in the history of American Television, “Desperate Housewives” has a viewership of more than 120 millions, and has been the proud winner of several awards like Golden Globe, Emmy, and Screen Actors Guild awards, even since its first screening in the year 2004. The cast of Vanessa Williams, will surely make it better.
