LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- NBC’s latest comedy ‘Outsourced‘ was aired on Thursday evening and people all over have been scrambling the web for the videos and the details of the show. Dealing with something as sensitive as the cultural clash between American and Indians in a comic way and being aired in the ‘Parks and Recreation’ slot, the show not only has big shoes to fill but also a prestigious platform. In what can best be described as a lukewarm response to the show, some critics have completely panned the show while some have said that the show has some promise.
‘Outsourced‘ is loosely based on the 2006 film of the same name and has the exactly same premise. An American employee named Todd Dempsy is sent to India to see over a call center. It is the cultural shock that the American experiences in the country, that is shown in comic light. The pilot episode promises some great humor ahead in the season. The show stars Ben Rappaport as Todd Dempsy and also has a strong Asian cast. In the pilot, there were certain punchlines that got the American audience talking. One of them talked about the Americans spending their hard earned money on things such as fake vomit and mistletoe belt buckle.
Alessandra Stanley, a renowned critic, said that ‘Outsourced‘ is rather ‘charming’ show which did not just parody Indian culture but also mocked at the ignorance of the protagonist, Todd Dempsy. Another critic, Robert Lloyd said that the show had ‘top flight’ characters and a ‘cheerful attitude’.
