Paris Hilton blocked from entering Japan
LOS ANGELES — Paris Hilton’s spokeswoman says Japanese officials have stopped the celebrity socialite from entering the country for a promotional appearance a day after she pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges in Las Vegas.
An e-mailed statement by Hilton’s rep, Dawn Miller, says the 29-year-old was delayed by immigration authorities upon her arrival Tuesday in Japan.
She was scheduled to appear at a news conference in Tokyo on Wednesday to promote her fashion line.
It is unclear whether Hilton will continue with the rest of the tour, which was scheduled to have her visit several countries, including Indonesia and Malaysia.
She pleaded guilty Monday to drug possession and obstructing an officer and was placed on informal probation for one year.
