MUMBAI - Based on the premise that opposites attract and the problems faced by families in marriages between people of different communities is Zee TV’s new show “Preet Se Bandhi Ye Dori Ram Milaayi Jodi”.

Building on the ‘opposites attract’ theory, the serial focuses on the bitter and sweet moments and arguments between the two families due to cultural differences.

The lead characters — Anukalp a shy, soft-spoken boy from a conservative Gujarati family and Mona, a bubbly, spunky girl from a Punjabi family — fall in love despite not having anything in common. The soap shows how their life and relationship progresses.

“The story is very simple and very common as well. Today, a lot of youngsters get involved in inter-religious marriage but the fact is that marriage is not just the meeting of two people, but coming together of two different families as well,” Sukesh Motwani, head-programming (Fiction)of Zee TV told IANS.

“Preet Se …” premieres Sep 20 at 9.30 p.m.

The soap also has faces like Krutika Desai, Lalit Tiwari, Riva Bubber and Suneel Sinha in pivotal roles.

“’Preet Se…’ is a celebration of India’s admirable sense of secularism and tolerance that exists between various communities that not only comfortably co-exist but amicably inter-mingle as well,” said Nitin Vaidya, Zee TV’s business head.
