September 15, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Young actor Bala has been signed to play the lead role in director Haridas Keshavan’s upcoming Malayalam film, titled Vendum Kannur. A newcomer named Feroz will also be playing one of the lead roles.
Bala tied the knot with his childhood buddy ‘Idea Star Singer’ fame Amrutha Suresh last month. The movie will deal with serious political issues in the current scenario. It tells the story of the party men, who are forced to live their life under restrictions imposed on them by the cadre party in those so called party villages.
Vendum Kannur will be produced by Keypon films. Veteran actor Jagathy Sreekumar plays an important role in this movie. Other vital cast of the film includes actors Kalabhavan Mani, Shwetha Menon, Janardhanan, Urmila Unni, Suraj Venjaramood, Mamukkoya, Augustine, Sadiq, Saikumar, Kiranraj, Risabava, Tony, Chalipala, Usha, Vani Viswanath and Ponnamma Babu.
The movie is dealing with a very sensitive and political issue that may raise objection from various political parties in the state. However, if the issue dealt properly with minute details keeping intact then it may create a good awareness among the common people. The filmmakers have taken the risk of making such a movie with much valor. Hope they succeed to draw attention of the movie goers!
