Malayalam Actor Venu Nagavalli Dies At 61

September 10, 2010 (Sampurn Wire):Venu Nagavalli, who was an actor, writer and director in the Malayalam film industry, has passed away in the wee hours of Thursday morning. The veteran was suffering from liver related problems and was admitted at the KIMS hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. He was 61 years old and is survived by his wife Meera and son Vivek, who were beside him when he breathed his last.
The renowned writer Nagavally R.S. Kurup was the father of Venu Nagavalli. He started his career with All India Radio as an announcer following the footsteps of his father. Later, he entered film industry as an actor and went on to become a writer and director.
The veteran has acted in about 50 movies and almost a dozen Malayalam movies have been directed by him. He has also written the script of many hit movies. Malayalam movie ‘Bhagyadevatha’ is the last film of Venu, which was directed by Sathyan Anthikad.
Some of his remarkable films include the names like ‘Arante Mulla Kochu Mulla’, ‘Ulkkadal, Chillu’, ‘Adaminte Variyellu’, ‘Lekhayude Maranam Oru Flash Back’, ‘Shalini Ente Kootukari’, ‘Meena Masathile Sooryan’, ‘Omanathinkal’ and ‘Vartha’.
In 1986, Venu made his directorial debut with the super hit Malayalam film ‘Sukhamo Devi’. Some of the films directed by him are ‘Ayirappara’, ‘Lal Salam’ and ‘Raktha Sakshikal Sindabad’. Shankaran Nair’s ‘Ee Ganam Marakkumo’ was the first movie of Venu as a script writer. He penned scripts for the movies like ‘Sukhamo Devi’, ‘Bharya Swantham Suhurthu’, ‘Artham’, ‘Kilukkam’ and ‘Aham’.
