Weezer Star Cuomo Used Music As Therapy After Tourbus Crash

WEEZER frontman RIVERS CUOMO rediscovered the power of music as he recovered from a tourbus crash in January (10) - he forgot about the pain he was in while he was writing and recording the band’s new album HURLEY.
The Beverly Hills singer wrote much of the new album while he was in hospital trying to cope with the pain of three cracked ribs - the result of an accident in December (09) - and he admits thinking about music was the only thing that took his mind off the agony.
He says, “I had so many unpleasant symptoms - aches and pains, stiffness, lack of energy, but I noticed that as soon as you put a musical task in front of me, all the negative symptoms disappeared.
“I just felt like I was full of energy and there was no pain and I was totally concentrated on working on music - so that’s what I did all the time.
“As soon as it came time to stop working and go inside for dinner of something, then I noticed all the pain again.”
