T.I. nearly rejected the rap anthem that catapulted him to fame - because he thought hip-hop titan JAY-Z was better-suited to record his hit track BRING EM OUT.

The MC found his breakthrough hit with the release from his 2004 album Urban Legend, but admits he was reluctant to accept the song.

He remembers telling music producer Swizz Beatz, I must admit I said this sounds like it should be for Jay-Z. I said, ‘Has anybody spoken to Jay about this’

The rap newcomer was later persuaded to record the track, and used a vocal sample from Jay-Z’s What More Can I Say. And the decision made his career - it became T.I.’s first top 10 single in the U.S.
