August 26, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): The earnest factors connecting these two films are the presence of Malayalam actors and the same occasion of theatrical release. Kamal Haasan’s previous film ‘Unnai Pol Oruvan’ had hit the screens on the occasion of Ramzan 2009. In all likelihood, director Aravind’s bilingual movie ‘Vande Mataram’ is also scheduled for similar release. The producers have decided to release the film on September 10 for the occasion of Ramzan.
Kerala’s major population comprises of Islam community and this cohort makes sure it doesn’t watch any movies during the 40 days of Ramzan fasting. Since, it’s a bilingual movie simultaneously releasing in Tamil and Malayalam, producer Henry finalized Sep 10. The film has Malayalam superstar Mammooty and Action King Arjun in lead roles.
Similarly, Kamal Haasan’s ‘Unnai Pol Oruvan’ had Malayalam actor Mohan Lal playing lead roles. The film witnessed a grand opening on Ramzan 2009 and turned to be box office winner in the State of Kerala.
Since, it’s a long weekend; ‘Vande Mataram’ is expected to have a decent opening in all centres. The film revolves around a cop and CBI officer striving to curb down the terrorists’ gruesome attacks.
