DARMSTADT(GaeaTimes.com)- Nadja Benaissa, the singer from German band “No Angels” has admitted in her trial on Monday that she had unprotected sex with several partners without warning them that she was HIV positive. The German singer was accused of infecting one of her sexual partners with HIV virus. The tearful singer said in her trial said that she is “sorry” from her heart for causing such a mishap.

The prosecutors reported that if convicted Nadja Benaissa would face a prison sentence ranging from six months to ten years. Media reports that the German singer had unprotected intimacy on five occasions between 2000 and 2004 with three men and she did not tell them about her infection. However, Nadja Benaissa admitted that she did not tell them that she is HIV positive but denied the allegation of infecting them.
One of the reputed German newspaper reported that Nadja Benaissa’s attorney released a statement on her behalf that the doctor told the singer that there was no probability of her passing the virus of the disease and so she concealed the fact from her “acquaintances”. The singer also maintained in the statement that she did not want her daughter to be affected by the news of her infection. She felt that if the news becomes public then it would eventually end her band’s career. However, the singer said that she was careless during “those” days. Nadja Benaissa was arrested in April 2009 shortly before a concert in a nightclub in Frankfurt after one of her partners made a complaint to police.
