August 14, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): The Bengali movie Aath Pake Bandha is directed by Ruby Gupta. The movie Aath Pake Bandha is Ruby Gupta’s directorial debut. She also dons the cap of the producer for the film; we must admit that she’s one multi-tasking lady!
To start with, the name of the film might be a little weird to most people associated with Bengali culture, since it clearly refers to the traditional way of marriage in the Bengali culture. There’s a catch however. In the marriage there are ‘shaath’ or seven rounds that the newlyweds are supposed to take; the movie name suggests of eight.
The movie name perhaps depicts an additional ‘round’ for a purpose. The film stars Dipannita and Vishal. Vishal essays the role of Indra, while Dipannita’s character is called Priya.
Music is by the inimitable Bappi Lahiri, lovingly called Bappi da by all. The movie also has music by the Bengali legend, Rabindranath Tagore. In other words, the film contains Rabindrasangeet or ‘Tagore songs’; something that the Bengalis can never get enough of.
The movie is scheduled for a 2010 release. It should be entertaining to see the juxtaposition of Bappi Lahiri and Rabindranath Tagore in the credits! Jokes apart, we wish the film all the best!
