Shatner Show Under Fire From Parents Group

WILLIAM SHATNER’s new U.S. show $#*! MY DAD SAYS has come under fire from the leaders of a parenting group in America, who are urging advertisers to pull their support of the series.

Officials at the Parents Television Council are angry about the CBS show’s name and are attempting to boycott the upcoming programme by contacting 300 advertisers in a bid to dissuade them from promoting during ad breaks.

PTC president Tim Winter tells The Hollywood Reporter, “The Second Edition of the 20-volume Oxford English Dictionary contains full entries for 171,476 words in current use; yet CBS decided to use the ’s-word’ in the title of this show, putting its blatant contempt for children and families front and centre.

“Unless or until CBS chooses a different title for this programme, we are urging advertisers to avoid sponsoring such an abomination purported to be lighthearted fun. The advertisers have two options. Either they can be complicit in the effort to serve up excrement in front of children and families, or they can choose not to associate their products and services with excrement.

“The question is why CBS feels the need to shove harsh profanity into the faces of Americans through the programme’s title. Their reliance on symbols as a veil is feeble at best. Beyond a port-a-potty, a laxative or a roll of toilet paper, most corporations don’t want their customers to associate their products or services with excrement.”

Harsh Profanity? They probably hear worse in the playground (or around the kitchen table). And I thought the Puritans had died out! Why aren’t these people upset that their children are seeing lying cheating members of Congress receive standing ovations, or Corporations virtually enslaving american workers with the blessing of Congress, or better yet, why not wait until we have laid off all the teachers and then the kids won’t be able to read the title of the show. Get over youselves and protest something meaningful. Geesh!
