MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- This is not the first time that the Bong beauty from Bollywood has found herself in the middle of a controversy and this probably will not be her last. Bipasha Basu is again the center of a controversy surrounding her latest release “Lamhaa”. The film which released on Friday sees the actress in the role of a militant Muslim leader. Critics have slammed the movie as being ‘anti religious’, a fact that Bipasha Basu is not ready to accept.
The role of Aziza says the actress was one of the most challenging to put forth on screen and since Bipasha Basu feels that she may not be able to perform to such a difficult role any time soon in her career, she is not prepared to let the film pass off without talking about how difficult it was to portray the character of an Azad Kashmir liberation movement leader.
In an interview delivered before the release of “Lamhaa”, Bipasha Basu talks her heart out on not only her film but also her experiences while shooting in Kashmir and this is where the actress has fallen in the midst of controversy. The actress says that while she had expected to come across a beautiful Kashmir, what she saw once she went to the place disturbed her very much. Bipasha Basu says that while talking to the local people of Kashmir she realized that they do not consider themselves a part of the Indian community. In fact the Kashmiris refer to any other place outside their own state as “Hindusthan”. Throughout the interview, Bipasha Basu maintained that “Lamhaa” is a different film, and she is sure of the fact that the film will cause a stir among critics in Bollywood.
