LONDON - Tom Hanks has revealed that ‘Toy Story 2′ nearly didn’t make it into cinemas.

The Oscar-winning actor said that Disney had originally planned to send the sequel to 1995 hit Toy Story straight to DVD, and that it only reached the big screen after pressure from himself and Tim Allen.

Hanks and Allen had voiced the lead characters Woody and Buzz Lightyear in the movie, reports The Daily Star.

Hanks insists that they helped open the doors for further Toy Story instalments.

“Tim and I and everybody else connected with it wanted to know why. We said it should be released as a film because it was magnificent and as good as the first one,” Hanks told The Daily Mirror.

“Usually sequels are pale imitations and are slapped on video but this was really great. Eventually they bowed to some brand of common sense so now we have a Toy Story 3 and will there be a fourth Toy Story. Why not,” Hanks said. (ANI)
