LONDON - Veteran actor Tom Hanks is in talks to star in Oscar winning filmmaker Kathryn Bigelow’s new film “Sleeping Dogs”.

This will be her first directorial venture since she won the Oscar for “The Hurt Locker”. She has once again teamed up with writer Mark Boal for the project. Hanks is the latest in the number of actors being lined-up for a role in the film after Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn and Christian Bale.

The movie is about five men working in the border zone between Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil, a centre for organised crime in the region, reports contactmusic.com.

Hanks, who has been focusing on production and voiceover work recently, will grace the big screen next year in “Larry Crowne”. He not only stars in the movie, but has produced it as well. He is also expected to play a role in Stephen Daldry’s “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” alongside Sandra Bullock.
