Sidebottom Fans Want Number One Tribute

Fans of late British variety performer FRANK SIDEBOTTOM have launched an online campaign to get CHRIS SIEVY’s alter-ego to the top of the charts.
Various websites are urging fans to download Sidebottom’s soccer-themed tunes Guess Who’s Been On Match Of The Day and The Robbins Aren’t Bobbins double A-sided single in a bid to land the papier-mache-headed singer the U.K. chart number one as a tribute.
Sievy, aka Sidebottom, performed tunes about his beloved Timperley on a ukelele and keyboard.
The cult novelty act lost his battle with cancer last month (Jun10).
A similar Internet campaign landed Rage Against the Machine at the top of the charts at Christmas (09) - when critics of British reality TV show The X Factor rallied to keep the programme’s winner Joe McElderry from the number one spot.
Stars like Billy Bragg have picked up the cause on Twitter.com and urged their fans to download the songs.
