Fashion Week starts in Chennai

CHENNAI - The Chennai International Fashion Week has started here with a fashion show featuring Western wear with traditional embroidery work.
The weeklong event will feature fashion shows that exhibit fabulous designs of renowned designers such as Anuradha Bisani Rashita, Rinku Sobti, Charu Parashar, Claudia Antonini, Giantii Rahul and Gunjan.
“We are very active in promoting our cultural heritage through these shows. Actually we are trying to showcase India to the world,” said Palani C. Periyasamy, the organizer.
The first day saw a fashion show by eminent designer Rehane featuring her collection called ‘Antolio’ which boasted of women’s Western-wear with traditional embroidery-work.
“It’s astounding the talent we have in our country and the labour, the textile we have in our country. We have whole heritage of these things. I think the whole world has to understand that India is the future of fashion,” said Rehane.ollywood actor Udita Goswami was the showstopper for Rehane’s show.
“Chennai Fashion Week is fantastic. I support every city which conducts a fashion week because, I think, we have so many talented designers and they all need a platform,” said Udita Goswami.
The fashion week would showcase eight international and 22 Indian fashion designers, with 30 fashion shows featuring over 100 models. The style extravaganza that began on July 7 will conclude on July 11. (ANI)
