“Midnight Express” Author On “Locked Up Abroad”

LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- “Midnight Express” author Bill Hayes appeared on the premiere of season 4 of “Locked Up Abroad” last night on National Geographic Channel at 10 p. m. ET. The name of the episode was “The Real Midnight Express“. Bill Hayes spoke about his real experiences in the Turkish jail after a silence of 35 years due to legal hassles. The author also compared his real life experience with the movie “Midnight Express” directed by Alan Parkar.

Midnight Express” fame Bill Hayes in “Locked Up Abroad” narrated his raw emotions and experience in the Turkish Prison where he faced the nightmares and days of pain and agony in the jail. Bill Hayes was in prison for five years after being convicted by Turkey Police in an attempt to smuggle two kilos of hashish from Turkey to United States. The author escaped the agony of the jail by escaping from there, he first stole a dingy boat, rowed it for 17 miles and reached Greece. The author also said that the real life experience that he faced was different from the reel life “Midnight Express” as truth is always stranger than fiction.

“The Real Midnight Express” had a recorded amount of viewers and the premiere proved to be a success. Bill Hayes’ also spoke about his personal experiences, his theater life, his marriage with Windy West and also spoke about how the Turkish Government issued a warrant against him after his book was published. The stories of desolation in a cell and their regular experiences, courage to fight back makes “Locked Up Abroad” a worth watch.
