Dick Clark’s Emotional Tribute

LAS VEGAS (GaeaTimes.com)- The Daytime Emmy Awards 2010 turned out to be an emotionally-charged awards night as American TV Legend Dick Clark received a tribute led by Ryan Seacrest. The emotional tribute saw the 80 year old break down during a standing ovation. Simon Cowell and Cher were among the stars who spoke about the legacy of the TV Host in pre-tapes. Several stars also appeared on stage to commemorate and applaud the contribution of Dick Clark over the last 40 years.
The tribute was led by Ryan Seacrest who can well be called his protege. Simon Cowell in his pre-tape said that without Dick Clark there would be no ‘American Idol’. Ryan Seacrest said that even if he lives to be 300 years old he will never fill in the shoes of Dick Clark.
Dick Clark’s tribute included a tribute to his show ‘American Bandstand’ that aired for more than 40 years. His appearance earned him the title ‘America’s Oldest Teenager’ until his stroke in 2003. His difficulty in speech was evident during his speech after the tribute but the audience was touched enough to tear up along with the speaker himself. The night also awarded the ‘Ellen Degeneres Show’ the Outstanding talk Show/Entertainment. The producers picked up the award on behalf of the popular host.
Dick Clark is an American TV producer, sports presenter and radio host whose contribution to the American TV entertainment industry is unsurpassed. With a career that spanned over 60 years Dick Clark became a household name for the American TV audiences. He was known for his signing off phrase- ‘For now, Dick Clark… So long’ with a military salute.
