BROOKLYN (GaeaTimes.com)- Tim Burton is a director who has a knack of telling unusual and dark stories in an engrossing and interesting manner and that has been seen in almost all of his flicks including the recent hit “Alice In Wonderland.” His “Edward Scissorhands” starring young Johnny Depp is considered as one of his most memorable movies till date. This dark fairy tale dealing with a strange man with blades instead of fingers has been made for stage and the stage adaptation has made its debut on June 25 at Brooklyn’s Bayard Studio Theater. This is a Brooklyn Studio Lab presentation and the stage version will be played till July 3, as it has been reported.

The main difference between the film and its stage adaptation is the budget. The film made in the 1990s was one of the most expensive films of its time. The stage adaptation on the contrary is made on a lower budget. Richard Crawford is the director of the play. He selected Serge Valez to play the role of Edward Scissorhands on stage. The director has said that it would be wrong to compare it with a typical Broadway production. He also said that his work is very different from a dance adaptation made by Matthew Bourne. He insisted that the creative effort in his play would be liked and appreciated by the viewers.

Richard Crawford has kept the script for his play more or less same as the film “Edward Scissorhands.” He wants to let the viewers feel the same gothic and dark ambience that the film offered.
