AMANDA BYNES has retired from acting - at the age of 24.

The former child star, who got her start on 1990s sketch show All That before landing roles in Hollywood films like Hairspray, has revealed she is quitting movies because she has lost the passion for them.

In a series of posts on her Twitter.com page, Bynes writes, “I don’t love acting anymore so I’ve stopped doing it. Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem. I’ve never written the movies & tv shows I’ve been apart of, I’ve only acted like the characters the producers or directors wanted me to play.

“If I don’t love something anymore I stop doing it. I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first: I’ve retired.”

The actress recently wrapped filming on her final project, upcoming comedy Easy A, which is due in theatres later this year (10).

A spokesperson for Bynes was unavailable for comment as WENN went to press.
