June 17, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Meghana Raj, the daughter of actors Sundar Raj and Prameela Joshai, has debuted in the Kannada movie industry with Punda, which is set to release this week. The actress had already acted in Tamil and Telugu films before signing this one.

The Bangalore girl Meghana is busy with a Malayalam and a Tamil film now. But, she is also quite excited about her Kannada debut film, which is a remake of the Tamil movie Polladhavan.

In Punda, Yogi is acting opposite Meghana, who has exposed her glamorous side in the songs. An excited Meghana said, “I started my acting career with a Kannada play ‘Jokumara Swamy’ and wanted to debut in films with a Kannada movie too. But, luck had something else in store. The famous director K Balachandar saw me in Chennai at an audio release function two years back. I was with my father. He offered me a role in a Tamil film immediately. I was not sure, but I said yes and acted in Krishna Leelai.”

She added, “After the success of my first film, Telugu film producer Bendu Appa Rao approached me with another offer. Kannada filmmakers had also offered me a few roles but I did not find them interesting. But, I could not miss Punda as I found it very exciting. I have given 100 percent to it and now it is set to release.”

“I really want to be in the Kannada films so the success of Punda is very important for me”, signs off Meghana.
