MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Akbar Khan’s ambitious take on the most well known love story of the Mogul dynasty named ‘Taj Mahal An Eternal Love Story’ did not do well at all in India when it was released a few years back. It was disappointing considering that a lot of money and effort went in its making. He is now ready to get the film released in Sri Lanka albeit in an edited and shorter version to cater to the taste of the viewers there. The edited film is 30 minutes shorter and a few songs have been chopped off together. It was supposed to be released in the island country earlier but got postponed owing to the civil war. The plan to release it along with the recently held IIFA awards also did not work out. The movie would be released next month.
Akbar Khan is of the opinion that his magnum opus ‘Taj MahalAn Eternal Love Story’ celebrates love and the South Indian industry will understand the message and not stall its release there. He also has plans to release the movie in the international market where the demands for Indian films are on the rise. Among the countries he has zeroed in on, France, Germany, the UK and the USA deserve mention. He earlier took the film to Pakistan where it got good response.
‘Taj MahalAn Eternal Love Story’ has some good songs in it and veteran actors like Kabir Bedi and Manisha Koirala. The film has not yet been released on DVD or sold to cable TV channels.
