LONDON - Plans of making a sequel of the hit American comedy Anchorman have been dashed after officials at the Paramount film studio cancelled the follow up project.

Adam McKay was determined with plans of filming a follow-up to the 2004 hit, which stars Will Ferrell as a dumb newsreader, reports The Daily Express.

He had even managed to convince the comedy’s cast, which also included Steve Carell and Christina Applegate, to reduce their fee to appear in it.

McKay then spoke to Paramount honchos regarding the funding of the movie, but they rejected the idea.

A disappointed McKay writes in a post on Twitter.com, “So bummed. Paramount basically passed on Anchorman 2. Even after we cut our budget down. We tried.”

“To all who asked: no we can’t do Anchorman 2 at another studio. Paramount owns it,” it further said. (ANI)
