Los Angeles (GaeaTimes.com) It is reported that groundbreaking US rapper and Gang Starr co-founder Guru died Monday night at the age of forty three after succumbing to Cancer. He had been suffering from Cancer for more than a year. He was in coma after suffering from a heart attack on February 28th.
Solar, Guru’s extremely dubious business partner, produced a letter that Guru dictated to him from his death bed.
According to the letter, Guru gave Solar full control of his money, assets and “all elements of his character after death.” It is also reported that the letter also specified that the rap duo’s DJ Premier not be allowed to use the name Gang Starr for future profit or fame.
According to Solar,
Guru suffered from the malicious illness for over a year and after numerous special treatments under the supervision of medical specialists failed, the legendary MC succumbed to the disease. Guru always tried to keep this harrowing diagnosis in private but in early 2010 he had to admit himself to hospital due to serious effects caused by the disease.
The real name of Guru is Keith Elam. He is survived by a son, KC. He founded the rap duo Gang Starr. He formed the group with DJ Premier in 1985. They put out six albums. ‘Daily Operation’ and ‘Moment of Truth’ became very popular at that time.
Premier spoke on the breakup in a 2006 interview with XXL magazine. He said,
If I confirm it, then it’s official. If I don’t confirm it, then we still together.
