Dixie Carter, Wife Of Hal Holbrook And Actress Of “Designing Women” Fame Dies

LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- 70 year old actress Dixie Carter of the “Designing Women” fame died on Saturday morning. The news was revealed to the media by her husband Hal Holbrook who released a statement mentioning the death of his wife. In the statement Hal Holbrook said that the death has come as a terrible blow to the family and that it is a private family tragedy adding that the family will like to spend some time out of the public glare.

Dixie Carter is known for portraying the strong and witty woman ‘Julia Sugarbaker’ in “Designing Women“. She had portrayed the role since it premiered back in the year 1986 and ran until 1983. She had acted in many other movies and television serials and had brightened the screen with her southern charm and quick wit. She was in the year 2007 nominated for the Emmy Awards for her short but powerful seven episode guest appearance in the popular show “Desperate Housewives”

Dixie Carter was married to Hal Holbrook in the year 1984 after the two met in the sets of the movie “The Killing of Randy Webster” in the year 1980. Dixie Carter had two failed marriages before she got ultimately married to Hal Holbrook. The couple had made many public appearances together and has also acted in many projects. Hal Holbrook was seen playing the role of Julia Sugarbaker’s boyfriend in the popular show “Designing Women“. Dixie Carter and Hal Holbrook were seen together for the last time in a 2009 independent film “That Evening Sun” based on a short story by William Gay, a novelist. The actress is survived by her husband and daughters Ginna and Mary Dixie.

Gee, I wonder if Dixie’s REAL husband knows that she is also married to Hal. I think you need to separate fact from fiction.
