A representative for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON director CHRIS WEITZ has dismissed rumours he’s set to return to the vampire series to helm the final film in the franchise.

The first Twilight film was directed by Catherine Hardwicke, and Weitz stepped in to look after the sequel when she was sidelined by movie bosses.

But Weitz also left the franchise and was replaced by horror director David Slade, who took charge of the upcoming third film The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

Hollywood bosses are said to be looking for another director to work on the final installment, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn which could potentially be split into two movies, and Weitz was rumoured to be plotting a return to the franchise.

The Twilight stars, including Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, were also said to have been keen to see Weitz back on board, reportedly signing a joint endorsement urging bosses at Summit Entertainment to hand the job to their preferred candidate.

But a representative for the director has told GossipCop.com that the stories are not true, and Weitz will not be stepping behind the camera again for Breaking Dawn.
