LAHORE - Former Pakistani captain Imran Khan has claimed that his country needs justice more than bread, clothing and shelter (roti, kapda aur makaan).

The PTI chief’s statements came during a telephonic address to his party workers at the Quetta Press Club over the row that erupted after the Supreme Court of Pakistan suspended a presidential order on the appointment of two top judges.

The Daily Times quoted Khan as saying that the PPP government wanted to bring the judges of its own choice, and the PTI would resist any such move.

Khan stressed the need for waging a struggle to achieve social and educational justice besides judicial justice.

He said the whole nation was behind the judiciary, and the PPP government should accept the people’s verdict.

He also called for formation of an independent election commission with the help of the judiciary so that the foundation of free and fair elections could be laid down.

“A section is doing politics either in the name of Islam or Muhajirs,” he said without naming any political party. (ANI)
