Campbell Brings Out The Stars For Haiti

Supermodel NAOMI CAMPBELL recruited stars including CHRIS BROWN, HELENA CHRISTENSEN and MALIN AKERMAN for a celebrity fashion show in New York on Friday (12Feb10) to help Haiti and pay tribute to late style icon ALEXANDER MCQUEEN.
The British beauty organised the Fashion for Relief Haiti show as part of New York Fashion Week to raise money for aid efforts in the earthquake-hit Caribbean nation.
But the event took on a sober tone following the news that designer McQueen had been found dead in London the previous day (11Feb10), after allegedly taking his own life.
And Campbell kicked off the event with a touching tribute to the 40 year old, read by British royal Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, who told the star-studded crowd, “To Alexander McQueen, thank you.”
The show then saw stars including Brown, Akerman and British singer Estelle saunter down the runway, donning designer creations for charity.
R&B star Brown admits he was grateful to have been asked to participate. He tells E! News, “(Events like this) are definitely important, not necessarily for me. I think it’s important for Haiti because you get a chance to see artists and entertainers and fashion icons come together to do something nice for a good cause and it’s not so snobby. It’s very humbling and being able to come and help, it’s nice to see.”
Campbell’s model pals Helena Christensen and Agyness Deyn, also took part in the event, but Deyn suffered a catwalk disaster during her outing, tripping over in her platforms heels in an incident that mirrored Campbell’s famous fall at a Vivienne Westwood show in 1993.
The outfits from the show will be auctioned off on Net-A-Porter.com to raise money for the CARE charity in Haiti. The sale begins on 15 March (10).
