Buble Proud To Take Part In Olympic Torch Race
By WENNSaturday, February 13, 2010
Singer MICHAEL BUBLE beamed with pride on Thursday night (11Feb10) as he took part in the torch relay race to mark the start of the Winter Olympics in his native Canada.
The Home hitmaker joined thousands of his fellow countrymen in Vancouver for the ceremony, where he carried the Olympic flame through the city before passing the torch to a local charity founder.
And Buble admits he couldn’t have felt more patriotic.
He says, “Every day it is nice to be a Canadian. I am proud to be a Canadian but I am also proud to be a Vancouverite. I’m proud of all these people who came out and showed their support.”
The 2010 Winter Olympics kicked off on Friday (12Feb10) but the sporting event has already been marred by tragedy.
Georgian luge competitor Nodar Kumaritashvili, 21, died hours before the opening ceremony during a training session-gone-wrong, when his sled flew off the track in Whistler, British Columbia and crashed into a pole at high speed.
