Reggae artist ALPHA BLONDY has teamed up with African singers YOUSSOU N’DOUR and BABA MAAL to record a new song to raise money for Haiti.

More than 200,000 people were killed last month (12Jan10) and millions more left homeless when a 7.0-magnitude earthquake rocked the poverty-stricken nation.

Music mogul Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie have already gathered a host of stars to record a new version of 1985 track We Are The World to aid the relief efforts, while Simon Cowell has spearheaded a remake of R.E.M.’s Everybody Hurts in a similar British campaign.

And now the West and Central African artists are doing their bit to contribute to Haiti.

The singers plan to meet with Congolese musicians Lokua Kanza and Papa Wemba and other artists to gather in the Senegalese capital of Dakar from 1-6 March (10) to record the track.
