Bob Dylan paintings to go on show in London gallery

LONDON - Bob Dylan’s first paintings marking the singer’s progression from drawings to working with acrylics on canvas are at the centre of a new exhibition due to open in London later this week, the Halcyon Gallery said.
The works include Dylan’s Train Tracks paintings, Woman in Red Lion Pub and Sunflowers.
Fans can acquire the works at the “exclusive” exhibition for sums ranging between 95,000 and 450,000 pounds ($148,000 and 703,000), the gallery said Wednesday.
The paintings, using bold, vibrant colours and dynamic brush stroke, are based on sketches made by Dylan while on the road between 1989 and 1992.
Paul Green, president of the Halcyon Gallery, said that while comparisons could be made with European masters such as Vincent van Gogh and Henri Matisse, Dylan had “definitely got a complete style of his own.”
Dylan has said of his paintings: “I just draw what’s interesting to me, and then I paint it.”
The exhibition runs from February 13 to April 10, 2010.
