Narendra Kumar to open Kolkata Fashion and Lifestyle Week

KOLKATA - Leading fashion designers J.J. Valaya, Narendra Kumar and Rocky S. will be among the participants in the Kolkata Fashion and Lifestyle Week (KFLW) to be held here Feb 24-28.

The KFLW will open with Narendra Kumar’s creations.

Other renowned names from the fashion industry like Neeta Lulla, Satya Paul, Anita Dongre, Dev and Nil, Rina Dhaka, Abhishek Dutta will also showcase their creations at the event which has ‘echo fashion’ as the theme.

“The theme is in accordance with the United Nations declaring 2010 as the year of biodiversity. Echo fashion refers to stylised clothing that uses environmentally sensitive fabrics and eco-friendly production techniques,” said Yudhajit Dutta of event promoters Purple People Entertainment (PPE).

Dutta, earlier the face of the Kolkata Fashion Week (KFW) that started last year, has broken away from the event’s organisers Mindscapes Maestros Events and Sports Management and set up the PPE.

Kolkata is likely to have two fashion weeks this year with Sen also going ahead with the KFW.

Dutta said a bevy of Bollywood celebrities will walk the ramp at the KFLW, but the names will be disclosed later.

“We will concentrate on showcasing the beauty and originality of natural fabrics, fibres and dyes,” he said.

A model hunt will be held as part of the week in Kolkata to provide a platform for aspiring and talented local models and designers keen on working with natural fibre.
