Eukanuba Dog Show Broadcast On Feb 6

LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- All the dog lovers had a great evening watching AKC/Eukanuba National Championship dog show which was broadcast on February 6 on the Animal Planet and Discovery Channel cable networks. The show was held to mark the 125th anniversary of the American Kennel Club which included lots of special events. The show was originally held on December 12 and 13 in Long Beach. 4,000 dogs of different breeds along with their owners had tired their luck to win $225,000 cash prizes.
Unlike other years, this year the competition was open for all. In order to mark the historical milestone of American Kennel Club, competitors were not invited, allowing all willing competitors to participate. It is reported that next year the competition will again have the invitational format. The American Kennel Club Management said they were too excited about presenting the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship dog show in collaboration with Animal Planet.
The winner of Best in Show got a handsome $50,000 cash prize. The show introduced us to almost 133 breeds of dogs. We got to know lots of moving stories about dogs. A 8-year-old Border Terrier who is called Eliot, received an award for therapy-dog service. The owner of the dog, Miriam Couto revealed that Eliot while walking on the street once stopped at the sight of a young girl and started wagging it’s tail. The owner asked the father of the young girl about her and was told that she was suffering from cancer. This dog has the power of instinctive understanding of a person’s discomfort. It tries to comfort a sick person hence was regularly taken to a hospital by it’s owner. The Eukanuba Dog Show had lots of other interesting stories to tell, which delighted te viewers.
