ABBA surprised at UK Eurovision ’snub’

LONDON - Renowned Swedish band ABBA had little idea it was snubbed by the UK who gave them “nul points” at the Eurovision - a contest they went on to win in 1974.
Bjorn Ulvaeus and Frida Lyngstad confessed they were left wide-eyed after learning the news, especially as their contest winning track Waterloo reigned the UK singles chart two weeks later.
“All these years and I thought the Brits were our best friends,” the BBC quoted Ulvaeus as saying at the launch of a new Abba World exhibit in London.
The popular pop group, which disbanded in 1983, is due to be inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
They will be inducted along with The Stooges, Jimmy Cliff, UK prog-rockers Genesis and The Hollies in a ceremony in New York in March. (ANI)
