Hair extensions could leave you with bald spots
By ANITuesday, January 26, 2010
LONDON - Women who make regular use of hair extensions risk developing bald spots, experts have warned.
Hair restoration surgeon Dr Bessam Farjo revealed girls as young as 20 were left in need of hair transplant surgery after trying to ape the style of celebrities such as X Factor judge Cheryl Cole and Victoria Beckham.
The surgeon explained the condition as “traction alopecia” where hair loss is caused when extensions exert constant tension over a long period on the scalp and hair follicles.
“Hair transplant surgery may seem like an extreme solution but it can be the only way to restore hair permanently,” the Daily Express quoted Farjo as saying.
Actress Jennifer Aniston recently said: “Nothing destroys your hair faster than extensions.” (ANI)
