AHMEDABAD - Clad in colourful saris, Ahmedabad’s transgenders participated in a beauty pageant audition titled ‘Super Queen’.
They swayed to music, introduced themselves, showcased their versatile talents and walked the ramp with pride.
It was an audition for aspiring charming transgenders, organised by Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi.
Lakshmi is a well-known activist crusading for a dignified life for transgenders.
For this beauty contest, a series of auditions are being organised in 10 cities across the country to dispel social taboos linked to transgenders in India.
Manvendra Singh Gohil, the Indian gay prince and scion of the family that once ruled Rajpipla in Gujarat was also a judge at the show.
Gohil said the beauty contest was an ideal platform to highlight transgender issues.
Tripathi said it was sad to see transgenders discriminated in India.
The grand finale will be staged in New Delhi on February 21. (ANI)
