BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards was held at the Beverly Hills in California on Sunday, Jan 17. The ceremony was attended by the who’s who of the film fraternities from all around the world. As had been expected, the one film that ruled at the ceremony was the James Cameron 3-D epic venture “Avatar.” On the other hand, some other films also deserved special mention, if not for the film itself, then for the actors who had acted in them. One such film was the blockbuster “Inglourious Basterds,” which won Christoph Waltz the Golden Globe.
Directed and also written by ace filmmaker Quentin Tarantino, “Inglourious Basterds” itself did not win in any category. However, one of the actors in the film, Christoph Waltz, did win the Golden Globe in the category of the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture. In the film, Christoph Waltz played the role of “The Jew Hunter.” It is not very surprising that Christoph Waltz’s “Inglourious Basterds” performance got the Best Supporting Actor Award, since his acting in the film had got rave reviews, and earned him high acclaim from the critics.
Christoph Waltz was evidently overwhelmed when he went up on stage to receive the award. In his speech of thanks, he heartily expressed his gratefulness to the director of the film, Quentin Tarantino, commenting that it working with the director had been a great, albeit “a dizzying experience” for him. Christoph Waltz’s “Inglourious Basterds” performance that got him the Best Supporting Actor Award in the Golden Globe Awards was a villainous role, often considered a breakthrough one.
