Songwriter Charles Dead At 71

Singer/songwriter BOBBY CHARLES has died at the age of 71 following a battle with kidney cancer.
The musician, real name Robert Charles Guidry, passed away on Thursday morning (14Jan10) at his Louisiana home, according to his publicist Karen Johnson.
Guidry was best known for penning hit tracks for Fats Domino and Bill Haley and the Comets. His most popular works include songs Walking to New Orleans and See You Later Alligator.
His long running career was honoured in 2007 when he was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.
Following years dealing with diabetes, Guidry was struck down with kidney cancer, but was in remission from the disease when he died.
A specific cause of death is not known as WENN goes to press.
He is survived by four sons.
