Dave Bruback, Grace Bumbry, Mel Brooks, Robert De Niro and Bruce Springsteen In 2009 Kennedy Center Honors

Los Angeles, (GaeaTimes.com)- The Annual Kennedy Center Honors are held in order to recognize the achievements of personalities who have made a significant contribution to the American culture through the arts that they have pursued. This year, the Annual Kennedy Center Honors hosted their 32nd event. Like each year, this time too, five notable personalities from the world of arts were honored with the award. The celebrities who were honored this time were Dave Bruback, Grace Bumbry, Mel Brooks, Robert De Niro and Bruce Springsteen in the 2009 Annual Kennedy Center Honors.

The ceremony was emceed by Caroline Kennedy. It was held for two hours, and was telecast on Dec. 29 in CBS. Among the ones who attended the ceremony were the President of the United States, Barack Obama along with the First Lady Michelle Obama and the Vice Secretary of the state, Joe Biden. The honorees of the 2009 Kennedy Center Honors award, Dave Bruback, Grace Bumbry, Mel Brooks, Robert De Niro and Bruce Springsteen were lauded by the people they had worked with in the past.

Dave Bruback, who received the award for his contribution to American music, was praised by some all star bands, who also felicitated Bruce Springsteen, who in turn received the honor for his outstanding contribution to the realm of American music. Mel Brooks, who was awarded for his contribution to the field of movies, particularly comic ones, was felicitated by Matthew Morrison and Martin Short. Meryl Streep and Ben Stiller applauded the two time Oscar winning actor Robert De Niro. Singer Grace Bumbry was felicitated by Arethra Franklin, who too had received Annual Kennedy Center Honor in the past.
