MUMBAI - Fashion designer Manish Malhotra’s bridal collection at the ongoing HDIL India Couture Week has not only impressed women, but it has also bowled over male celebrities like Karan Johar and Tarun Mansukhani who are going ga-go over his creations on Twitter.
“Just watched Manish’s show…Only one word…Amazing. He is a genius, Mansukhani, who directed Dostana, posted on his Twitter page Wednesday night after the show.
He also had a word of advice: Ladies, his lehengas with slits are just brilliant. Go get one!
Karan Johar, who worked with the designer in his films “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” and “Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna”, posted: “Manish had a brilliant show!”
Malhotra, who is tinsel town’s most beloved designer, left the audience spellbound with his collection called “Destination Wedding”. The set was decorated with white drapes suspended from the rooftop - giving the impression of a dream sequence from a typical Bollywood movie.
The background music had chartbusters from Hindi films like “Emotional Atayachaar”, “Twist”, “Chor Bazzari” among others. And to top it all, he had Bollywood’s star couple Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan as showstoppers for his show.
For actor Uday Chopra, the fashion show offered more excitement as he could meet few of his friends.
“It was great seeing Manish Malhotra’s show last night…It was awesome…(I) caught up with some friends too…a fun night, he wrote on Twitter.
Malhotra’s new bridal collection had lehengas, off-shoulder kurtas, long jackets, stylish cholis (blouse) in unusual colours like peach, ivory and beige. It had minimalist embroidery but a lot of bling, giving it a sexy and stylish look.
So confident was supermodel-turned-actor Dino Morea about Malhotra’s designs that he predicted it to be a runaway success before the show. “Going to watch Manish’s show. Am sure it will be stunning,” he posted on Twitter.
