Juanes receives threats over Cuba concert
KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. — Latin singer Juanes says he has received threatening internet messages since announcing he will play a concert in Cuba.
The 17-time Latin Grammy winner from Colombia told Key Biscayne Police on Aug. 15 that he received several postings on his Twitter account that he perceived to be a threat. Juanes’ manager also said that he has experienced hostility since the concert was announced.
Key Biscayne Police say they are keeping a watch on Juanes’ home there.
Some in Miami’s Cuban-American community have expressed their disappointment with the Sept. 20 show at Havana’s Revolution Plaza, saying that it legitimizes the Communist-led government of Fidel and Raul Castro.
