Attorney: Miley stalking suspect ‘a human being’
TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. — The attorney for a 53-year-old Georgia man charged with attempting to stalk Miley Cyrus says his client is “a human being” who might need help.
Attorney James Byrne told The Associated Press on Tuesday that Mark McLeod has been dealing with the deaths of his mother and brother in the past year and a half, as well as losing his job as an assistant plumber.
McLeod appeared briefly Tuesday before a Tybee Island judge, who postponed a preliminary hearing on the case until next week.
Police say McLeod twice came to Tybee Island trying to find Cyrus, and told a police officer he was secretly engaged to marry her. McLeod remains jailed on $55,200 bond.
