Mexican band’s fans in clouds with free plane show
MEXICO CITY — When the “fasten your seatbelt” sign went off, the show was on — a free in-flight concert from Mexico to Los Angeles for 153 fans of the popular Mexican music band Los Tigres del Norte.
The low-cost Mexican airline Volaris replaced three rows of seats with a makeshift stage for Wednesday’s concert, attended by 33 contest winners and their guests.
Volaris spokeswoman Sai Sanchez says the band brought special amplifiers to blast a dozen classic songs over the noise of jet engines at 33,000 feet (10,000 meters).
She says the concert ended when the nearly four-hour flight from Toluca, Mexico, to Los Angeles, California, entered U.S. airspace because U.S. authorities do not allow concerts on airplanes.
