BHUBANESWAR - Sand artist Sudarsan Patnaik Friday paid tribute to the ‘King of Pop’ Michael Jackson who died of a cardiac arrest, by creating a sand image of the musical legend on Orissa’s Puri beach.

Patnaik created the image with the help of students of his Golden Sand Art Institute on the beach of his home town Puri, 56 km from here.

“We worked for four hours to create the four feet high image. We used about two tonnes of sand,” Patnaik told IANS by phone.

The 50-year-old Jackson, who weaved musical magic with his songs and performances and was called the “ultimate entertainer”, died of a cardiac arrest Thursday in his Los Angeles, US, home leaving millions of fans in shock around the globe.

Patnaik is a famous sand artist who has participated in more than 37 international sand sculpture championships across the globe and has won many awards.
