LOS ANGELES - Actor-director David Arquette has revealed that he suspected that his estranged wife Courteney Cox was having an affair.

“There were tabloid stories coming out about her and someone on her show having, you know, an affair,” Arquette told Oprah Winfrey on her talk show.

“I thought she was having an affair with someone. Nobody would’ve said something like that if she weren’t.” (He, however, now says he knows those stories weren’t “true”.)

Arquette says Cox went into depression after hinting the marriage was over and that the news hit him hard as well.

“She came down really depressed one day, and was like ‘I’m really just not happy.’. I felt really sort of abandoned at that point. A deal is a deal.” (The phrase is engraved on the inside of the couple’s wedding bands, which they exchanged in 1999.)

“I was angry with…the dynamic of our relationship. I was angry with my wife,” said the star, who has struggled with addiction.

Arquette also revealed that he was upset with Cox earning more money than him. The actress made $1 million per episode in the final season of the hit sitcom “Friends”, reports usmagazine.com.

“She was on this incredibly successful show, so she made more money than me. I was sort of always in her shadow. And I’d held all this bitterness,” he added.
