NEW YORK - ‘Scream’ director Wes Craven has revealed that actor David Arquette was “in a lot of pain” before checking into rehab.

Craven told EW.com about working with Arquette and his wife Courteney Cox months before their separation became public in October.

“Frankly, none of us knew anything was going on [during filming],” the New York Daily News quoted Craven as telling the website.

“I don’t know what their problems are, but it’s not that they hate each other, that’s for sure. It’s something else,” Craven said.

The filmmaker explained that he saw Arquette “a little bit more because he was present during more of the shoot than Courteney,” but they both were “very professional people.”

Arquette “was in a lot of pain, so it’s good that he’s getting some help,” Craven said.

The actor’s publicist confirmed to the Daily News Monday that he had entered treatment but provided no other information.

He is reportedly seeking help for alcohol addiction and depression. (ANI)
